The lens is a Tokina 24-200 at its 200 limit. This is almost a 100% crop. I've learned a lot from the helpful advice you folks have posted, but I think it's time for the pinwheel to spin on out. I'll try a different challenge image. Your comments have been a real help and truly appreciated. I'll definitely be giving feedback on others' shots, because I've seen how helpful it can be to see a shot from someone else's eyes. Many, many thanks. Dennis (Tlaloc) Phillips

This is a Great shot! Well composed and the exposure is right on. The OOF background adds great dimension. But the "Soft Focus" (or lack of sharpness) is an issue in this photo! Your EXIF info does not say exactly what lens you are using, only that the FL is 200mm. Perhaps a different lens and moving in closer could solve this problem. What lens is this, and what lenses do you have available? Unless it is macro capable, 200mm is not really good for this type of shot.

Dennis, I'm still wondering about the poor picture quality. Was there some movement and is this a 100% crop, ie close to pixel for pixel in the display? I think it would be much stronger if you got up close in good lighting conditions and got a really clear shot, or as I mentioned against your original post, if you were able to capture some deliberate blur from circular movement, that could also be cool. Anyway, this is now on theme.

I like this shot with the reflections on the wings causing different blue colors much better than the previous one. But, I still feel the lack of sharpness a little bit. - MCsaba
I'd like to thank all those who commented on the previous pinwheel submission, with special thanks to John Down Under. I've learned a lot from your comments. Many thanks.
