Undertow Under the Pier by Veronica

The fishing pier at Nags Head, NC appears to resist the fierce currents present in the Outer Banks.
~~ Ok, ok, so the current doesn't appear all THAT fierce but this was the closest I could get
to the subject so far.~~

Good image Veronica. I surely like the energy the waves is bringing in the picture. Some curves and local contrast enhancement could improve it even fruther indeed.

Hi Veronica, strong pic, but there is a lot of detail hidden at the moment. Others suggested to bump the contrast, I tried some hilight shadow blending or some contrast masking (only blur 5) and you start to see waves and a horizon in the part outside the pier.

I agree this is compositionally very strong. To show water at its most energetic is not easy so I am not sure how closely this meets the theme but a great shot all the same.

I am drawn into the picture by the wet sand around the post, leading into bubbly waves around the post, leading into foam around a post, leading into water and more posts. It's a feeling that I'd need a lot of my own energy to walk that walk of water energy, and maybe I'm not as strong as the driven posts.

It is interesting that the horizon line doesn't show much, and I didn't notice it until the other post said it might be bumped up in contrast. I wonder if that would add to the drawing into the water and feeling of energy or not.

A nice image on his own with a great leading line. I don't sense strong energy, but I still like the image. If I had to do anything about it I would try to make the sea and sky contrast more intense at the horizon.
