Bracket, a superb shot. It must have taken so much patience but well worth the effort. You have a sure winner with this one.
Kind Regards

Great freeze-frame of the water drop and splash. Only thing I might do would be to increase the color saturation 15 percent or contrast by the same amount. But I'm just nit-picking... :-)

Thanks to all for your positive comments. Yes Adrian, it might be worthy to try to go closer, but at the risk of getting your body wet (...of the camera I mean ;-). Of course a different cropping would also be possible, but I like it the way it is.

g'day bracket - phenominal pic - i'd be tempted to see how tight i could go, even using skew to lose the plate entirely? - love the inverted image in the 'top' drop. thanx. adrianox

Thanks for your comments.
The subject is a colourful hand-painted bowl, which my fiancee bought on a holiday in Italy. I put the bowl in my shower and just opened the tap a bit, so that it drops with constant frequency every few seconds. I found that the height from which the water drops is important to get the right splash effect, which was approx 50 cm (20 inch) in this case. Also the amount of water in the bowl has an effect on the splash.
For shooting I set the camera on a tripod, and everything to manual. I.e. manual focus, manual exposure and manual flash. I used the onboard flash to freeze the motion. I also used a selfmade flash diffuser for this shot, but it isn't necessary. With a bit of exercise it's "easily" possible to catch the right moment. Setting everything to manual reduces shutter lag to a minimum and makes catching the right moment easier. You still have to (at least I had to ;-) shoot dozens of shots to get a few acceptable.
(sorry, Exif data got lost, but I will add it as soon as I can).

Fun shot, with very nice subtle reflections all over! I did not know you could get the kitchen-size version of the creature from Abyss LOL
