I like the idea too. The treads are a little distracting.

I like the idea behind this, but I think I would like to perhaps see the couple themselves as well as their shadows, and the varying texture of the ground is a distraction.

The idea is nice, but the background is too busy for me. May be some different cropping could help as well.

Sure looks joyful to me. Could you have given the figures a quick once-over with Photoshop? Sometimes what looks like something else comes out looking terribly out of place. I really like the tire tracks in the dried mud...nice textural addition.
