I have two grasshoppers ...lol I named one sassy she's sooo sassy (I'm not kidding she's rude) and one is a baby boy grasshopper I named him sir hops I loved all the pictures of the cute lil grasshoppers they are both young grasshoppers and they like each other they act like bro. And sis. They actually are mean to each sometimes lol so they are like bro.and sis. Soo thanks for the great pics. Have a blessed day!:)

There's one type not present here. We call it (eastern Zambia and Malawi) as Tsokonombwe. With. No wings, its a. Jumping grasshopper.

I am in Tombstone, AZ and the other day I saw on the wall of our house a grasshopper like I have never seen before. I am familiar with grasshoppers as SD has lots of them and they eat up my garden and my flowers. Hate them! This grasshopper that I saw in AZ had a blue head, a coral colored thorax with black specks on it. It also had blue knees and its wings were a tan with black specks. Does anyone know what kind of grasshopper this is? It was about 2 -2 1/4 inches long. A big one.

my pet grasshopper is big about maybe 1in. or 2in. hes green and his wings look just like leafs so i need to know wat kind of grasshopper is she. she looks kind of like number 9659 and 0802!?!

HERE IN WEST TEXAS I CAME ACROSS A GRASSHOPPER THAT WAS TOTALLY BLACK...EXCEPT FOR THE JUMPING LEGS....THE MIDDLE PART OF THE LEGS THAT LOOK LIKE HERRINGBONE DESIGN WAS RED...THE GRASSHOPPER FELT LEATHERY TO THE TOUCH....HAVEN'T SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THAT AGAIN....WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT KIND IT WAS...

I really find your photos beautiful, I have decided to try my hand at oil painting and would like to paint large portraits of grass hoppers.....I hope to capture their amazing beauty as you have in your pics. At first glance, a grasshopper might look like a large green or grayish insect......but the closer and closer you look the more you realize the beauty of color and design they exhibit. Yesterday, I finally got my hands on a band winged grasshopper, they always fly away so quickly that you never get to see them up close, but this one was injured in a hit and run by my neighbor. They are so cool because they are in camoflaug like a moth but when they fly through the air their wings spread open to show a vibrant red coloration and they are the only grasshoppers that make a clicking noise with their wings while in flight

The photo 'ghop10303.jpg' identifies one I saw yesterday in my yard in TX. I am curious to know more about this awesome little creature. I've never seen one of these before. They look like they're wearing shoes!

what lovely pictures! ignore the negative posts; these little guys are the backbone of the garden. even if you find them unattractive, find comfort in the fact that they provide sustenance for other insects. as a novice photographer, i really appreciate the skill it took to get these shots. keep up the great work!

I visited Smiley, TX this weekend and have never seen so many different types of grasshoppers ( or so many grasshoppers period). There were bright green, camo, black, silver.......it was fasinating.

When I was a kid I used to love going out into the paddock with a jar on a hot summer's day & catching the species 'Gastrimargus Musicus' or musical grasshopper. It was great fun! I'd come home with a jar full of green hoppers ( I liked the green ones better than the brown ones). The strength they have in their powerful back legs is absolutely incredible! I used to like catching the females because they were always bigger & they would hide in long grass. I have always had a fascination for insects of all kinds but the grasshopper has always been my favourite. Brilliant photography. Can't wait to see more!

I have to love them they have a special meaning to me.my husband passed away six weeks ago and out of no where he said he was coming back as a grasshopper.I have no idea why he said that.my daughter was so taken with this that she went and got a grasshopper tatoo on her leg he sits on a pansie(flower)it's actually prety. pictures are very beautiful......

I want to thank you for such wonderful photos...kept my grandaughters entertained for hours. My youngest grandaughter was wondering where the pictures of crickets are. She is facinated by them. Keep up the good work.
