NS 3306, SD40-2 HighHood. The foundation for this model is an undecorated Athearn kit. The frame was milled to eliminate the cast on tank guage and filler. A Mashima motor was installed to drive the tuned Athearn trucks. The shell shows the most modifications. The low short hood was removed and replaced with a Front Range high short hood with gaps and spaces filled with styrene and Bondo glazing putty. A RPP cab replaced the Athearn unit. Detail West buffers filled the gap in the pilot and allowed the coupler to secure the body to the frame. The loop and pin hold downs were removed and filled. The usual assortment of details (plow pilots, mu cables and hoses, grabirons, etc) were installed. Floquil paint and Micrscale decals plus light weathering finished the model. It was completed in 1995 and was updated with Cannon fans in 2004.
