The University of Texas at Austin is justifiably proud of its McDonald Observatory, located on Mt. Locke in the Davis Mountains of west Texas, visible from and an easy drive from Davis Mountains State Park. Four research telescopes and a number of others are part of a 2-mountain complex that takes advantage of dark skies and dry, clear air.
