It turned out to be a great place to camp, especially if you like the smell put out by petroleum refineries, AND included a free shower. We surprised ourselves by returning after a very worthwhile visit to Living Desert State Park, where we learned about the Chihuahuan Desert, where we would be spending the next three weeks. Unfortunately for this gallery, we didn't find ourselves here for many daylight hours (thus the paucity of photos), but it did offer a reasonably good, wide view of the night sky if we faced away from Artesia.
