Early Morning in the Country

This is my idea of a sunrise shot! I'm NOT a morning person!! Had to be out at our Nature Center early this morning to photograph an all
day field trip exploring a nearby bog! Had never walked across a bog before! Great fun! First though, on my way to the Nature Center,
I saw this scene with the final early morning mist lifting from the fields.

This might have been posted before midnight, had my Adobe Photoshop not been acting like it was possessed!! Had I not just run a virus check,
I would assume my computer has every virus floating around out there in cyberspace! Don't know what is wrong with my program,
but this has been a longgggg painful frustrating experience trying to process and post this image!
My mouse could file for physical abuse at this point!

Anyway... not completely satisfied with the final image here, but I've run out of patience! Hopefully the computer will 'heal itself' overnight!
Will try to get to everyone's PAD images tomorrow! I'm off to bed!

Beautiful shot!

Beautiful shot!
I'm not a morning person either - I see all these beautiful morning shots and think ugh that means I'd have to think in the morning. Hope the computer has rectified itself!

Cool shot well spotted, I look forward to seeing the finished work if you don't teach the PC to swim.

It's a beautiful setting! My favorite "weed" ;) I'm sure they are so nice now in PA. I played with it with some NIK graduated filters and I'll send it to you for fun. This one is nice without it. There is just such a range that it's hard for the sensor to handle (much like slide film).

As said below, the mist is wonderful and Joe Pye is my favorite. Just a bit too much sharpening, you will like the smart sharpen in CS2 (I peaked at todays:)
The comp is so inviting.

I like the composition and the way the hill leads your eye to the mist you described.

You ended up with a sharp image, well lit and defined. The mist rolling in the background gives it nice separation from the foreground, offering a pleasing depth to the photo

I'd blame it on the morning! Things rarely go well in the morning .

There's a lot that's pleasing here. You may want to re-visit it one day when Photoshop is not being a jerk. I love the joe-pye week in the corner. It balances everything nicely.

The image is especially pleasing when you sit back from the computer and just take it in. So lovely. Love the misty look, it is like a painting. (As a beginner I don't do much in Photoshop....you made me happy about that today!) LOL

You comment on your profile page how deeply rooted you are in film photography. Your experiences of getting Photoshop and your computer to cooperate in "developing" this image may drive you back to film. At least there you can drink the chemicals if things don't develop well. ;-)

I'd like to say I like this one, however it does need some work and given your frustations I'm sure you know that too. The highights are blown and it may be oversharpened.

The basic comp and idea is excellent. If you are going to spending a great deal of time in that bog, you may want to consider creating a bog blog? LOL

Anyhow, better luck with the damned machine today. -R

This is really a nice shot, Mindy. Love the muted tones, the two Joe Pyes off to the left and the mist uphill. Very nicely done; great early morning feel to it..

Beautifully composed with the diagonal fence lines separating the trees from the field and soft colour contrasts. Bravo!

Beautiful shot of peace and quiet. You would think this would make even your computer calm right down.
Mike Moats21-Aug-2005 11:17
Very calming

Very familiar shot and one to look back on in January and get warmed by, The Joe Pye weed on the left looks so regal, its a beautiful balance for this wonderful image.

Very beautiful and moody image!

Beautiful ... love the mist up in the right corner. Hope your computing problems solved themselves over night! :)
Guest 21-Aug-2005 08:37
Sounds like you had quite an adventerous day, not only at the Nature Center, but with computer as well! Can be quite frustrating and hope you get things straightened out with PS. Really like the composition here, quite beautiful giving a feel of serenity.
Lee Rudd21-Aug-2005 08:25
superb view... makes the morning worth it alone!
Sheila21-Aug-2005 07:26
Superb. Beautiful scene great DOF, it just wouldn't have been the same without the red plant.
Brian McAllister21-Aug-2005 06:34
I really like this Mindy. The colors are super nice. Love the comp/and fence line that draws the eye way into this shot. Vote. And, yes, I hope your computer problems are gone. Nothing more frustrating than programs that seem to have a mind of their own.

Wow ,what a peaceful countryside.
shatterbug21-Aug-2005 06:18
Lol...that's my idea of morning too. Beautiful shot.
viljamix21-Aug-2005 06:06
Pleasing scenery. The red plant is a nice touch.

Has the tones of an old painting of the 1700s Hope all turns out well with the PS madness.
Linda Willets21-Aug-2005 05:59

Bryan Murahashi21-Aug-2005 05:51
