Cityplace Tricky White Balancing Act in West Palm Beach

West Palm Beach, FL, Florida

When I first eye-balled the scene I saw lots of potential pitfalls, both from an exposure and compositional point of view. I believe there was some kind of repair vehicle just to the right, some miscellaneous, unattractive sighs to the left, and what I was left with after cropping, in the middle (explaining the off-center nature of the sign). In addition, the 4 o'clock Florida sun was brutal and the rays were literally just beating off the white surfaces of the building and the very white barked palm trees and creating horrendous shadows at the same time. So, balancing a composition, and trying to get some texture revealed from the white objects and not having overexposures, seemed to me to be a photographic problem comparable to some sort of balancing act. Whether all this explains something or not is something you may or may not want to consider....for my part, I balance and balanced it all in my mind.
