In April 2011, we spent three weeks in the Republic of Turkey exploring ancient ruins, tramping through the WW I battlefields on the Gallipoli peninsula, gorging on fresh strawberries and cheese at the farmers markets, chatting with locals, and being struck speechless (like most visitors) by the beauty of İstanbul.
