This is a replica of the 'schooner' that brought the first group of white people to settle the colony of Melbourne in 1835.
The expedition, led by John Batman, entered the Port Phillip Heads on 29th May, 1835 sailed down the bay to a place now called Williamstown,
then up the 'salt water river' and settled in an area now Melbourne's Docklands.
