Structure 17-lagoon-cane burning

Structure 17 has been cleared [elliptical mound in foreground], as a field of sugar cane is burned in the backround. A burial was unearthed just below what was once the entrance to this building, a common occurance in the Maya world.

The excavators named the skeletal remains "Fred"
