Pihea Trail

This is looking out over the tops of the native forest, once again from the Pihea Trail. Kauai was devasted a few years ago by a hurricane, and the damage is still evident, although the island habitat seems to be recovering nicely. The red blooms are Ohi'a, one of the favorites of the honeycreepers. This area was literally full of Apapane, and is where I took the photo of the juvenile Apapane.
