Fountain in Piazza del Popolo 0725

Roma

Lions at each corner and an Egyptian obelisk in the
center, this fountain dominates the enormous piazza.
The grand piazza is now a pedestrian-only zone and
a sort of oasis in the midst of frenetic traffic.

Hey, Karen's right - that would make a really nice picture on its own! Re the symmetry - note the group on the left is mostly young, and the group on the left is mainly gray-haired (like us!)

Mary Ann, the lions were sculpted after 1823 by G. Ceccarini for the new layout of this Piazza ... not "really old" as things go in Rome.
