Just recently I went in search of making a series of photos that convey visually the idea of “cold.” That was the theme of our local photo club. I like the idea of creative challenges. Bought a bouquet of tulips at a supermarket and headed about thirty miles north of my home to “Lake Jean” on top of “Red Rock Mountain.” During the winter it is always much colder due to the elevation, so it seemed like a natural place to go in search of real cold. It had recently snowed and I hiked through snow drifts and blowing cold wind with my flowers and vase to a picnic table near the lake edge. Within five minutes the flowers went from vertical to drooping due to the shock of the cold. I shot a few photos and then retreated myself due to the extreme temperatures. My flowers didn’t make it back home. They died in route. Sacrificed themselves all for art. So they didn’t die in vane I present them here for your viewing pleasure. :-)
