A small waterfall on Rock Creek. In the background that is ice, not water foam. Last week this area had several inches of snow and ice. This was the first weekend you could travel this area. It was still extremely muddy and slick in several locations across Springer Mountain. When Linda and I left Blue Ridge it was 52. On top of Springer Mountain is was still in the mid 30's with several patches of ice on the road. You could hear the ice crunch under the wheels of the truck as I tried to make sure we did not drop off the 500'+ cliffs. Forest Service roads get you very close to the valley view and you have no guard rails to keep you from seeing the valley close up if you slip.
