The red track is a round trip walk in Dec. 2006, before there was snow on the ground.
A lot of exploring of side trails is evident, and we turned back early
because of the short daylength then.
The green track is one-way this day from the rec area parking to the edge of the
parking lots at the summit. The cutoff route about half way up is fairly level,
and eliminates a long uphill/downhill section of the old tote road. We really
appreciate the work that someone did to mark it!
Using a GPS receiver with a topo map in it is a huge help in seeing
where you are going in relation to where you want to be!
Of course, you should also carry a paper map and compass, and
have a good sense of the area where you are hiking.
