Encounter....

Havanita Café - Paris (France)

I’m not trying hard to find any justification…
The photo is just a poor snapshot, taken with my small compact camera in precarious balance on a glass, used as emergency tripod.
But it’s the only visual report of a funny, casual meeting.
This is one of the sides of travelling I like in a special way.
The accidental encounters with strangers, who open for a short time a sudden door of communication, like two lit up ships which skim each other over a nocturne ocean.

We are at Havanita Café, Sergey and I.
By our table a man sits alone, without any melancholy, very joyful.
When the waiter brings him his drink, he suddenly takes a position of Oriental meditation, something between Yoga and Zen…

Then he warmly smiles at us, he lacks one of his incisors.
He switches from the posture of guru to a normal social drinker’s attitude.
I suddenly remember that two years ago, always here, in La Bastille area, I had another rather bizarre meeting with someone lacking an incisor.
I was lucky enough to take a picture then, to report the surrealistic moment.
You might click HERE if you feel like seeing it.
But it was another story of course; simply La Bastille must not be a good place for incisors.

Our sociable and friendly guru waves at us and suddenly he looks at me, taking this poor photo of him and tells me:
“You have already had many other lives, did you know that?”
A little embarrassed I must confess I had not any idea and, of course I have not any memories.
Sergey grins…
I don’t dare to tell him I don’t believe in any form of reincarnation, he looks so happy to perceive my supposed former lives…

“What about my former lives – ask him a very naughty and amused Sergey – can you see them?”

“No, because this is the first one for you…”

I feel suddenly very old…
We order other two drinks.
