Omaha Beach was the code name for one of the principal
landing points of the Allied invasion of German-occupied
France in the Normandy landings on June 6, 1944, during World War II.
This beach is now known as “Bloody Omaha” because of the 2,200
casualties suffered by the American troops who landed here on D-Day.
