The protests were mostly over the new governors action
to take away the right of collective bargaining for public employees.
That right has been in force for quite a number of years in this state.
The public employees had much support of other labor unions and the issue
was further complicated by many factors, such as the government cutting many
public programs. So far the governor's party has been winning
