I am starting to plan my first Texas garden and am quite excited about it! I've gardened before, but it was a long time ago and in a climate far, far away (Western NY to be precise), so I'm really a noob when it comes to gardening in the sunny, dry climes of Texas. Luckily, however, I have several friends who are avid gardeners, and have begun tapping those resources to get information. I'm especially interested in organic gardening, companion planting, and container gardening / gardening by the square foot.

It is my hope to actually manage to grow things rather than kill them (which I've been known to do...oops...) and to can and make preserves out of the resulting harvest. I am sure that as this project goes on, there will be more on this subject showing up.

This, however, is a very important moment. This is my first evahr gardening hat! Donated to the cause by my friend Jenn, who quite simply made my night by sending this home with my hubby when she saw him! :)
