The weather closed in on us once again today as the rain fell in bucketloads. Mike had driven the 90 miles from Glasgow just to visit me, discuss our present project - which we hope will make us rich! - eat some smoked salmon and scrambled eggs (surely the lunch of the gods) and then head out and take some photographs. We spent a few hours righting the wrongs of the British and Scottish political systems, then a few more discussing our get-rich-slowly-but-surely project before filling ourself with Isle of Lewis, oak smoked salmon and Perthshire free range eggs. More discourse followed over our late lunch as we continued to make plans for world domination. Outside the rain began to fall. By now it was almost 4pm, so we decided just to stay indoors and have another cup of coffee. With the outlines of our publishing project finalised the conversation turned to photography. At this point Linda came in with our two weekend house guests, our little nephew and niece, Ross and Erin. Mike did the sensible thing and hastened to his car for the 90 mile return trip to Glasgow through the monsoon; Mizzie found a dark place to hide from the tiny terrors who want to poke and prod her; Linda set about making supper for the wee yins, while I found refuge in my study, where I began dipping into some of the books I recently purchased. The kids and Linda are all now in bed, and I am downstairs in the study listening to Coldplay singing In My Place. The rain is battering on the window. All is right in my world.
