Raindrops keep getting in the house

11 August 2004

113.
When will this rain stop? The weather forecaster tells us that we have caught the tail end of a hurricane, and that there are at least two more days of this to endure before we get back to just cold (as opposed to cold and wet). Good news is that the leaky roof appears to be fixed: bad news is that we now have a leaky window. When Dave comes back to apply the rubber paint to the flashing, I'll ask him to redo the window seals. Liam's got less than 1 week of his holidays left, and he is stuck in the house watching Friends DVDs instead of being outside. What a wasted summer – no doubt the weather will improve next Tuesday, and his first week at secondary school will be the hottest and driest week of the year. Saw on the news that a convicted rapist and multiple sex-offender, who was on weekend release from prison (as part of his rehabilitation prior to release), just won £7 million on the National Lottery. Not sure how I feel about that – he didn't break any laws to buy the winning ticket, and there is no reason he shouldn't get his winnings... but somehow it just doesn't seem right. God certainly moves in mysterious ways, I guess.

As it's been so long since we had rain I do not recognise this sight. As we have a young puppy that has taken a liking to our glass doors it is constantly covered in lick...yuk !! Would you care to swap Stewart ??

Very cool, I was about to do something like that for my photo of the week, but you beat me to it! Must say though, I think you've done a better job then I could have with the view out of our window...

The rain on the window seems to follow all the outlines of hedge and house. Really cool effect!
Just heard on the news that the guy may have to share his winnings with his victims ;)

That makes a great "water" color. :D Really nice also including the yellow line.

Great shot. Sums up the summer holidays perfectly

flooding here too :-/

Strange weather Stewart...here it's extremely hot punctuated by thunderstorms which don't seem to break the stickyness. Funny, we just had the same conversation in our house; divided opinions here...it does leave a bad taste in the mouth.

ditto what shannon said, this is really cool stu

I always like these through-the-rain-on-the-pane photos; it's interesting "listening" to your daily musings on whatever is on your mind....

I really do love this image! It definatly caught my eye in the weekly contest on photoaday.net.....

This is a fabulous image! Very well done ... 7 mill??? seems like most of us work our fingers to the bone and have nothing to show but boney fingers. Well at least you know the money can't corrupt him ... seems he already handled that himself ...

I held out this morning taking a pad - misguided hope for some brightness and dryness on the way home tonight? We'll see - at least it's been dry so far this afternoon!

Who needs Photoshop to get these effects - the real thing's much better! Urgh. Nice bright green colour though.

I'm sure the sex-offender will spend his £Ms on moving to a country with better weather!

Well Stewart this is a great example of sometimes even when you are all wet you can get an excellent image!

Hmmm... It seems that everything i might say has already been said... :s
I do know what you're saying about the convict winning and you are right. God does seem to work in mysterious ways.
Hope the rain stops soon. Seems the whole world (almost) has had more rain this year than normal.

Great shot. Really shows the imprisonment of rain.

Like this shot of the rain on the window -- pretty much sums it up. At least everything is very green, which in a way just makes it worse to have to wait it out indoors. And maybe you'll find all those little leaky places just in time for the sun to come out.

This looks like to be a terrible scottish weather.
I was used to showers when in Scotland but it seems to be torrential rain !
I hope that if the sun comes back in a few days it will remain in Liam's memory.
First days at secondary are so important.
Let it be sunny !

This is a lovely image, and the rain and cold sounds good, we are very hot and dry right now, but I know what you mean. I hope Liam gets a day or two of good weather before he gets back to school. As far as the lottery winner, that is why I seem to avoid the news lately, I get quite frustrated when I watch. Take care!

Excellent shot Stu. Rain drops produce a very nice effect here!
Well the wether here in Vienna is not much better, but I've to admit that now it's sunny and hot (I missed that), but the last 3 days was the same and at eveening we had rain like waterfall.....
hope the rain stops for you...
cheers

Nice pic Stu, really captures the summer we have had this year. I think we have all got a bit spoiled by last years exceptional summer. Anways enjoy visiting your pages, I never know what to expect next. Keep up the great work.
