Ragged trousered

12 August 2004

114.
A bit of an up and down day today. First of all, I got paid three of the four months that I am owed and I also got paid for a translation I did (on time as well – wonders will never cease). With that money I could clear my credit card and get in the paint, filler and all the other acoutrements that are associated with decorating. We have a budget and a plan: £1000 to decorate the living room and pay Dave. I did some more paid work, then got stuck into wallpaper stripping and preparation, such as filling holes (they say the secret to good finishing is good preparation). First thing to go was the hideous dado rail – a pointless and unwelcome thing. I enjoyed ripping that off the wall, and I also enjoyed filling in the holes. Quite therapeutic, really. Took Liam to his guitar lesson and got a puncture, so I had to leave the car outside his guitar tutor's house and we got a taxi home. Tomorrow we set about the repairs... two new tyres. At least the PaD is sorted out! You've got to smile ;-)

My walls (100 years old) are full of holes and cracks. I leave 'em and tell myself an old house has to look its part (and I don't spackle very well :)
Good luck. Don't step in the paint pan.

What a day! At least you have a plan and things should get better.

You have a way of making mundane scenes very interesting. Terrific shot.

Stewart... sounds like a pretty horrible day. Have an ale, get a good meal and try again tomorrow. (By the way, although I do have empathy, may I say ... better you than me? ;-)

Better you than me. Rehab jobs are not the funnest (is that a word) of things for me.
