A car WAS HARMED in the making of this PAD.
So here goes a long story. Pop some pop-corn and have a seat.
Wednesday August 10th I call my local car fix it guy and say that Friday August 12th I would like to bring my car in to have the timing belt changed (I have been putting this off for some time!). Now don't get me wrong I really trust this shop to service my car, they are fair and honest and do quality service.
So Friday morning I drop off my car at 7:30am and they let me have the loaner car to get around in. At noon I call them and ask if they have an idea at this point when later in the afternoon the car will be ready. They tell me it's been a busy morning and it will be around 4:30pm. Ok no prob talk to ya then.
At 5pm I have still not heard from them so I give them a call. They say that they have had a really crazy day and their technicians have been working other folks in that have to sit in the lobby for service and are stuck there, so it will be ready at 6:30. Ok bummer I want to get my Friday night started but ok no prob.
At 6:15 they call back and say ummmmm Mr. Lundy I hate to tell you this but the technician just noticed that we don't have all the parts to complete the timing belt tonight. WHAT! I called Wednesday just for this reason to make sure you have all the parts in stock and can DO the service FRIDAY. Why are you just now figuring this out???? Why didn't you tell me this at 5pm? What have you been doing all day? Sorry Mr. Lundy can you pick it up tomorrow and keep the loaner overnight? NO, I have plans that take me out of town before you open in the morning. Well Mr. Lundy I am really sorry but that is the best we can do.
Ok I want to know two things. When will my car be ready in the morning and how much of a discount am I going to get? Well Mr. Lundy (this time in a nervous voice) you will be getting a big discount.
Ok fine I am upset now but atleast I will get a discount.
So Me and Abby go out to dinner not expecting to hear from them till the morning. Well while leaving from dinner the phone rings. They are telling me the car is not done and they would like to personally deliver it to me. I say no thanks but I prefer to come get it myself and not have anyone driving my car across town.
So we get there at 8:30 and the Owner/Manager comes out and says Mr. Lundy I am going to knock 50% off your price. Do you feel that is a ok discount? Wow that is great thanks I say. He says I am glad to hear that now we have something to show you. This is when he says lets go outside and look. I knew something was VERY wrong. So we go outside and he shows me where some little ol lady (another customer) has bumped my car. I am calm at this point.
Abby is outside so I suggest we go back inside so I can start yelling. I understand that somethings happen and some events are out of their control. But to let me walk in here and first ask if 50% off is ok then show me my wrecked car! I kindly let them know that what they should have done is as soon as I walked in the door they should have said, "Mr. Lundy your service is on us today." UGH!
So I ask them first is the lady ok? Yes she is fine. Then I ask where was my car when this happened? Right where you parked it this morning. Oh, ok. When did this happen? Around 3:45. AROUND 3:45! Ok so my car had sat where I parked it since 7:30am till it was hit at 3:45pm when you first told me that the technician had been working on it little by little while working in other customers that had to wait in the shop? So did the frakin technician do a little work on my taken apart engine, stop, pull it outside to where I had parked it and go back and forth all day or have you guys just been yankin my chain. Now what is the truth!? DONT LIE TO ME. Now I am in a RAGE ready to take my pocket knife out and slice these guys into little painful pieces. I am an understanding man but I WILL NOT STAND BEING LIED TO!
So anyway I got the timing belt and oil change service for free. A savings of $600 dollars and they will have me a rental car ready for the time it is going to take to have my car fixed at a body shop of my choice.
Thanks for reading. I vented. So if you read this far you can help me choose which lens I should get for the $600 bucks I saved.
