Kidney Stone in Reflection of Rainbow

Well this morning got off to a rough start. I woke up with some pain in my back. Took my morning walk to the bathroom and the pain got worse. Almost as if someone had stuck a knife in my back.

Well I knew what this meant. I had felt this pain before in 2001. Time to pass a kidney stone! :(

Well two and a half hours later, the intense pain went away so I knew I had pushed it thru my kidney tubules. I went back to sleep and when I got up I needed another trip to the bathroom and this monster came out. Pain free now. All is well.

I bet NOBODY will duplicate this PAD!

About this image. This is my personally made kidney stone setting on a CD. I took a 50mm f/2.0 lens and reversed it and attached it to my G5, which gives this super macro. The shadow you see from the stone is caused by my 580EX flash that was fired wirelessly off camera left.

P.S. If you look closely at 9pm and 11pm (on the stone) you will even see two little hairs sticking out from the stone. Me and Abby think those are the microscopic hairs that are part of the kidney's filtration system. Cillia? This can be better seen in the 100% crop of just the stone. http://www.pbase.com/lundy/image/41558057

I even dedicated a little gallery to it. http://www.pbase.com/lundy/my_kidney_stone
