SP Friday: Just the Edges

Studio, Studio, Studio.

Still not able to get what I intend to get. I was hoping to get less wrap around from the light source. I am not sure to move the umbrella in or out, shoot thru or bounce. Lots to learn.

I prefer to get those results the old fashioned way by doing it thru the release of the shutter and not in post processing.

But tonights image was given a film look thru the use of a program called B/W Convert Pro (trial edition)

It has some nice features pre-programed to help your shots look more like the grit of film. It can be downloaded and tried free for 30 days here. http://www.theimagingfactory.com/

March 12, 2005 Update: I took John's advice and I got closer to what I was after. Click here to see the results. http://www.pbase.com/lundy/image/40731900

Thanks John.

James, - direct light, (not reflected or diffused from an umbrella) will give a more solid shadow line and less wrap-around. The hard part is to not have the light bounce back from the other side of the room.

Excellent work. I find b&w so challenging in digital. I can't get the hang of it. You're doing super work so I know it's possible...maybe Elements 2.0 just isn't enough application. Anyway, enough of my troubles. I love your b&w shots!

it's very nice.. The composition is really creative and the lighting well done (even if it's not what you were going for)..
Although getting a pic right out of the camera the way I want is fantastic, post processing is an amazing thing.. :D
