My family lived in Westminster from the thirtys .We lived at 20 Cromwell road till it was demolished .my mum nell stupple. and jess weiver were the last people to leave . They held out to the end. Jess weiver lived in Riverside terrace at one end of the village and my mum at the other end in Cromwell road .It was a great place to live .Good houses pulled down for nothing .The place should be rebuilt to ease the houseing shortage .

My grt grandparents Charles and Eliza Stone and my 6yr old grandmother Eleanor with other siblings were living at 42 Montague road in the 1891 census. I lived in Queenborough until 1962 and remember the area well.

My Ancestors Harrington came from Russell Street, Rose Street, Clyde Cottages, Telescope Ally and Alma Pass or do they mean Passage? from 1840 till about 1905 I wonder if anyone has any pics or drawings with ref to these addresses and what would have been their local pub?

I lived here for a very short time in 1951 before moving into town to Short Street. There was a high wall opposite the houses surrounding the gas works. Our house was between the pub and the shop on the corner. When we lived at Short Street my sister and I used to take the go-cart, walking along New Road and taking turns to ride, collected a bag of coke from the gas works and then both of us had to walk home pulling the cart. if we were lucky we got 3d 9old pence) for going.

My Grandfather, Henry Richard Johnson was born at 70 Montague Road, Westminster in 1864. The Globe Inn was next door to their house. I am told the street doesn't exist any more.

Its very sad that Westminster is now wiped off the face of the earth. My grandparents used to live there on the main road.Their name was mr and mrs May.At the time I was a boy and I lived in Sheerness East.I used to visit them regularly and I can remember there was always a terrible smell from the chemical works opposite and it was everywhere even in the house but it did'nt take long to get used to it.I now live in London but I occasionally go back to the island.I was born in Minster in 1939 and lived there untill Iwas 16 in 1955.

My only memory of this village is a derelict ghost town. What a shame they had to tear it down, Such a waist. Especially as this piece of land has remained unused ever since.
