This is actually the president's son, Ted Jr. (He was technically Theodore III, but no one in the family counted it that way. The president's father was also Theodore, but the president was never referred to as "Junior.")

Ted, Jr., was an amazing individual whose story has, sadly, been mostly lost to American history. He was a hero of both World Wars. Though he did not make it to high elected office, he did dabble in politics. He served as an appointee in a few Republican administrations, and the integrity he showed was amazing. He was a good businessman who did not capitalize on his name. He helped get the American Legion started after WWI. He was also appointed to various volunteer boards, where he also served with distinction & integrity.

If you're on Facebook, you can find some pages dedicated specifically to Ted, Jr.

Quentin II is Ted, Jr's, son. He's named after Ted's brother, Quentin (one of the President's sons), who was shot down as a pilot in WW1. Ted is actually buried next to the first Quentin in a grave in France. This is a memorial, not Ted's actual grave. (The president's actual grave is in this area. He's buried with his wife, Edith.) Interestingly, Ted was married to "another" Eleanor, so there were two Eleanor Roosevelt's in the political public eye for a while. (The more "famous" Eleanor was a first cousin of Ted's and married her more distant cousin, FDR.)

Quentin II was also in D-Day, as was his father, Ted. He was on a different beachhead, though. Quentin, as many of the president's other grandchildren, served the country nobly in non-political ways.

Personally, I wish some of TR's descendants would return to politics, helping build a new movement or even a new party that balanced workers' rights with business needs. One that also balanced different needs and desires in the so-called culture wars.

Very nice to see the resting place of a former great President.
