I use the word "Wendover" to mean the combined area of West Wendover, Nevada and Wendover, Utah, two cities sitting side-by-side at the Nevada-Utah border on Interstate 80. The Nevada city has a larger population and an economy based on gambling casinos. The Utah city has about a third as many people and exists on salt production and land speed records. Together they provide a suitable gateway to the Bonneville Speedway and the Silver Island Mountains.
Wendover is the place where, in the early 20th century, the country's first transcontinental telephone line was completed, being the communications equivalent of the Golden Spike site at Promontory, Utah.
During World War 2, the Wendover area was a military training center. It was here, at Wendover Field, where many bomber crews---including that of the Enola Gay---were trained.

I like your Wendover gallery, having driven through on I-80 many times over the last 35 years. Appreciate not only the photos , but also the history.
The last time I was there, on my way to SLC, I caught a nice sunset looking west from the rest stop on the North side of I-80, about 5 miles east of Wendover. Thought you'd like to see it:
