Atmospheric distortion at the precipice

Arches National Park (Moab, Utah)

Upon reaching the precipice, I sat down for a moment to relax and put a fresh roll of
film in my digital camera. As I got up again I noticed that the landscape had been
distorted in the "stepladder" manner shown here. Based on my experience with investigations
of the paranormal, I quickly concluded that I was witness to a Gauss gradient of great
proportion. At once I activated my Fratostatic Meson Emulsifier to shield me from the
harmful rays. Then I took this picture. Fortunately for the surfing world, important
details of the scene were left intact: straight ahead is a bowl that empties into a steep
cleft that goes to the bottom of the canyon (small greenish area at upper left). Once
the danger had passed I proceeded to explore the precipice.

My position is at the center of this Wikimapia aerial view:

Discrepancy or not, you're still no Dick Cheney, Dave.

I won't tell anyone Dave.

Jomosoft, I am telling you this in confidence: the bit about atmospheric distortion is a cover story for disguising the fact that I am too lazy to acquire an image-stitching program. The panorama was created with Photoshop Elements 2. Do not tell anyone about this "discrepancy with the truth."

... you were fortunate to have the Fratostatic Meson Emulsifier at hand ... or else ...
