Upon reaching the precipice, I sat down for a moment to relax and put a fresh roll of
film in my digital camera. As I got up again I noticed that the landscape had been
distorted in the "stepladder" manner shown here. Based on my experience with investigations
of the paranormal, I quickly concluded that I was witness to a Gauss gradient of great
proportion. At once I activated my Fratostatic Meson Emulsifier to shield me from the
harmful rays. Then I took this picture. Fortunately for the surfing world, important
details of the scene were left intact: straight ahead is a bowl that empties into a steep
cleft that goes to the bottom of the canyon (small greenish area at upper left). Once
the danger had passed I proceeded to explore the precipice.
