The dark sky concerned me, but it was too late to turn around: that would place me in wide open spaces
where I would be the tallest thing around and therefore a prime target for lightning. Staying on this
ridge was also a bad idea. I had to find safer ground. The best protection seemed to come from some
lower ground nearby, so I descended into the canyon between this ridge and the cliff to the right.
