Straight ahead: my route into Jackson Butte

Jackson Hole (near Moab, Utah)

The white line goes as far as makes sense in this photo. I actually went slightly higher and to
the right of the end of the line. Once I left the road I was in trail-less terrain and I saw not
a single human footprint (but deer tracks were present). Being this close to my goal made me drool
in anticipation. As my spittle hit the gound, it caused the sand to form big ugly blobs---is that
a violation of the "take only pictures; leave only footprints" philosophy?

You should see the machine they use to maintain that white line: it takes five people to operate it.

I am amazed they keep the trail marker so clean and white.Makes it easy to find your way around I suppose. Or , this Butte has a crack in it!
