In September 2007 I attended Speed Week at the Bonneville Speedway, intending to set a new world land speed record for Toyota Siennas. Although I was prepared to go 545 miles per hour (872 kilometers per hour) to break the existing record, a technicality disqualified me. I have four braking parachutes mounted on the back of the Green Weenie, but Speed Week rules limit the chute count to three. My maintenance captain got fired over that oversight.
Normally such a problem could be easily handled with a field modification performed by the members of my support crew, but due to a ridiculous misunderstanding about wages, all crew members had gone home in disgust. The Green Weenie will get revenge during another visit to the salt.
My photographic assistant, Joe Tripod, performed in his usual steadfast manner to make this photograph a reality.
My position is about at the center of this WikiMapia aerial view.
