This is my collection of soap remnants. For years I saved soap scraps in case some day I found a use for them. (Being a pack rat means not being able to throw out anything that might come in handy later.) The only thing I ever used them for was lubricating screws driven into wood. But that use was superseded by use of beeswax when I learned that soap attracts moisture, which could cause screws to rust.
I started saving soap scraps some time before May 1994, the time when I assigned this box to soap-storage duty. The box of soap scraps sat in the garage, waiting for me to take some sort of action. Today, after taking this picture, I acted by discarding the scraps. This is just one little "baby step" in the process of changing my habit of holding onto things. (The term "baby step" comes from the hilarious Bill Murray movie "What About Bob?")
White soap is Ivory. Orange soap is Dial. Blue soap is an unknown brand.
