The Green Weenie sits in a defunct quarry at Lucin, Utah. It got here by ascending a little-used gravel road. When exploring the place I discovered evidence that railroad tracks were once up here: there were numerous ties and depressions in the gravel.
The overcast sky, wind, and cold made for a depressing atmosphere, but this was mitigated somewhat by the elevation, which gave me a nice view of the nearby railroad tracks at Lucin (I watched two trains go by). The view extended far to the east: I was able to watch an eastbound train almost as far as the Newfoundland Mountains.
The quarry is a level area remaining after a piece of a mountain was removed and is about 100 feet (30m) above the road to Lucin (visible in the background). From the road it looks like a flat hill with remnants of a concrete structure on the side of the hill.
After the train-watching I drove to Wendover, mostly in the dark.
I shall return...
