Philippine Hawk-Eagle with prey

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

In my first encounter with an adult of this species, I chanced upon a Philippine Hawk-Eagle eating its prey (an unlucky, unidentified bird) at Subic rainforest.
Light was very low where the raptor chose to perch, so I had to use a high ISO and slow shutter speed. My bean bag, aided by the 500 f4's IS,
stabilized the rig enough for the photos to be recognizable. A documentary photo of a long-sought after lifer - a Philippine Cuckoo-Dove high up the canopy - was an added bonus.
