Another Lifer in Masinloc

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

It was a short birding sortie, but a very exciting one - I was treated to a spectacle of a Rufous-Bellied Eagle (another lifer for me) soaring high, then suddenly diving in a very steep angle to snatch a Zebra Dove perched atop a tree.

Also, the puzzle of the Masinloc flowerpecker ID ( https://pbase.com/liquidstone/image/49143861 ) is finally solved. I heard its call - "loud, randomly spaced TIP TIP ... like tapping 2 pebbles together." That makes this bird unmistakeably a Pygmy Flowerpecker.

For a rainy season sky, it was unusually clear over Masinloc last November 8, 2005. I got out my Sigmonster and took some lunar shots.
