Macabebe's Cisticolas and a photogenic Coucal

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

With the sun coming out for the first time in weeks, I checked out the western seaboard of Macabebe wetlands (Pampanga province) if the migrant water birds
have made their landfall. I saw a few of them in flight, but not close enough to be photographed... perhaps there will be more of them in September.

I turned my attention instead to the Bright-capped Cisticolas - noisy little jerky fliers that have denied me a close capture so far. I got them real close this time.

On my way out of the wetlands, I came upon a Lesser Coucal perched on top of an Ipil tree. I had to climb on top of my off-road vehicle to get a clear line of fire
over the tall grasses obstructing the view. This is my cleanest and most detailed capture so far of this common but shy skulker....;-)
