Trying the 40D at Candaba BIFs

The migrants have started to arrive in our islands, so I visited Candaba wetlands yesterday to compare the 40D's AI servo prowess vs my 1DM2.
I shot hundreds of photos of birds in flights (BIFs) with the 40D and 1DM2 alternately mounted on the 100-400 IS and the 500 f4 + 1.4x. In my subjective experience,
the 40D's AF at BIFs is closer to that of my 20D than to my 1DM2. The 40D has a hard time tracking a fast BIF when the BG is busy, but has no problem
when the BG is featureless like the sky. So, my 1DM2 gets a reprieve and stays on as my default flight DSLR. The 40D gets relegated to static birds.... :)
