Sigma 300-800 DG returns to Candaba wetlands

Fatbirder's Top 1000 Birding Websites

Went to Candaba wetlands yesterday (April 18, 2005) to continue improving my learning curve on the Sigmonster. I was rewarded with a couple of lifers (Siberian Rubythroat and the uncommon Greater Painted-Snipe). The SR is particularly interesting, as I have all but given up in trying to get this fellow this year, after so many fruitless searches for it at Tambo mudflats. That I got the bird just before it is scheduled to go back to its breeding range makes me very lucky. Again, the Sigmonster didn't disappoint - it continues to amaze me with its reach, zoom flexibility, sharpness and subject-isolating DOF.
