We’re not the first to use a wine bottle for rolling out food and I’m sure we won’t be the last but this is my improvisation of the day – no rolling pin so the pizza dough was rolled with the wine bottle and now it’s covered in flour and bits of dough but that won’t make any difference to how it tastes.

I’ve been cooking DMs favourite meals because he deserves it as a birthday treat. He didn’t want much for his ‘big day’ so I reckon it’s my job to make sure he gets good food all week.

So, last night sate and today pizza – tomorrow? Dunno yet but it’ll be something else he likes!

We’re gradually getting ourselves straight here but both of us are a bit daunted by the thought of three containers arriving from Pickfords any day now when we’ve got nowhere to put anything. Still, never mind – at least there is a rolling pin amongst the boxes…….somewhere.

Two years ago, I was photographing dripping wax and the pic from last year may well prove prophetic yet!
