17th September 2005 - it's a long way from WHL...

….but it is still full of Spurs fans!

We’ve been down to the pub tonight to see the Spurs – no satellite TV here (yet) and found ourselves for the second time among a group of Spurs fans. That’s so cool.

The first time we went to this pub, we were very nervous about ‘showing our colours’ but when the first Tottenham goal went in we were surprised to find the pub erupting in euphoria and this gave us the courage to strip down to our Spurs gear.

This time, we made friends with a local who is going to ‘look after’ DM while I’m at the Fulham game without him and he’s here watching on Sky.

It wasn’t the best of starts but we pulled back from the brink with an equaliser after 70 minutes from the inimitable Robbie Keane and looked up for a win actually but didn’t quite get there.

After the game, we wandered off up the road to the local curry house for a ruby to end the evening…..mind you, it was only 9pm when we arrived home, obviously our days of being dirty stop outs are well and truly numbered but what the heck we’re both officially OLD!!!!!!

Yum was the curry and the restaurant had a really nice ambience. Now, we’re home and discussing the next phase of the ‘grand plan’!!! It’s really strange to be driving our destiny – in the past, we’ve let it happen around us and ended up wherever our jobs and lives have taken us. Now we’re in the driving seat and looking forward to completing our journey.

This badge was given to me by Olly for my birthday and is now permanently attached to my favourite shirt.

Last year there were a number of echoes of this week and the year before, I was wrapping pressies for DM's birthday

I've always had a soft spot for Spurs even though I'm from oop North. Probably because Sheffield Wednesday v Spurs was the first every football match I was taken too. Family outing in 1958 - now that dates me!

That wouldn't be the Robbie Keane that will be a Celtic player before the end of the season... would it? :)

Nice "badge".
Guess I'll have to one day experience the thrill of standing in a pub
with a bunch of rowdy Brits, screaming at the telly and raucously
behaving like children, while men run across the field in their shorts
and chase after a white ball.
Hmmm?
Sounds like fun!

It's good to hear you're happy in your new home and local! :) Shame you didn't win but you can't win 'em all eh?
