We are at the exciting moment when the walls are finished for the new kitchen – it’s taken a while to get to this because the builders have been away on another job for a few weeks but now it’s full steam ahead again. They’ve been working hard today getting the joists in place so the roof can go on and when I went into the bedroom to close the windows before we went out, this was what I saw. Two wrenches – one a Stillson, left atop of the wall ready for tomorrow. Why wrenches for putting in joists? Well because what you can’t see is the massive steel structure outside the frame of this image. It’s going to support the roof lantern and it needs to carry a huge load as the lantern is huge. We’re going for maximum natural light in the new kitchen and the void that’s inside the structure suggests it’s going to be amazing – I can’t wait to see it in situ.
