Our horrible old conservatory come kitchen come outdoor lavvie come coal cellar has gone and all that is left is the standpipe. It once came out of the wall of the lavvie but it’s been given independence so that the builders have access to water during the working day.

From my point of view, it is a life saver because it means I can link up the hose and water my plants without lugging dozens of watering cans’ worth of water from the tiny kitchenette that we’re left with, through the hall, the lounge and out into the garden. It’s going to make my life a whole lot easier – thank goodness for resourceful builders.
