David actually calculated how long our building works have been going on and it’s only 8 weeks. I mean no malice to our builders who are brilliant but it feels like a lifetime. Progress is weird. It seems like nothing happens for weeks and then, in the space of the seven hours between leaving home at 7am and returning (for my ppa time) at 2pm, there are walls.
They’ve gone up at a galloping pace and we are now in the serious business of finding ourselves a kitchen! Obviously there is a load more pain between now and then, not least because we’ve got to ensure the outside wall of the existing house being knocked down as part of this process.
However, for now, this will do nicely. This is, as I’ve said before, the most ambitious project we’ve ever undertaken. Exzim mentioned recently that he thought we were on our second remodelling. I am now on my 7th home and 6 of them have been taken apart and put back together. In addition, David and I gutted and restored the home he owned when we got together. I’m determined this will be our last.
Oh and for good measure, I’m also overseeing the building works at my parents’ home too. Me? I love piling on the pressure until I’m about to go under. It that thing I do.
