Snowy Plover


The Snowy Plover Charadrius nivosus is a near threatened wader (IUCN3.1).
In many parts of the world, it has become difficult for this species to breed on
beaches because of the activities of humans and/or their pets. Several states
including Alabama have programs in place to protect the nesting sites of these birds.
