The African Moon Moth (Argema mimosae) is related to the Luna Moth, (see Luna Moth gallery), a relatively common moth in parts of the US. This moth, found near the east coast of Africa, measures 12-14 cm. from head to the tip of its tail. The elongated tails are actually a second pair of wings. The specimen shown in this gallery is an adult female which was photographed in the Cecil B. Day butterfly center of Callaway Gardens in Georgia
